The Global Anglican June 2025
In the June edition of The Global Anglican, Peter Jensen begins with an insightful editorial on the tragic issue of clergy sexual abuse and coverups. The topic fits well with Benjamin Wagner’s historical study of the necessity of holding a strong theology of sanctification as well as justification, in the work of nineteenth-century evangelical Anglican bishop Charles McIlvaine.
Lee Gatiss provides a useful examination of the nature of oaths, particular ordination oaths, and Fergus Pearson presents us with a heart-warming account of the friendship between Anglican Thomas Scott and Free Church John Ryland against the background of ecclesiastical and political tension at the end of the long eighteenth century.
The articles are bookended by a topical look at the current state of evangelicalism in Southeast Asia from Khee-Vun Lin, and our usual array of current book reviews.
The Global Anglican is available by subscription (including digital) and to purchase single issues, and also digitally.
