In his editorial, Peter Jensen looks back at what the Church of England thought was the biggest spiritual priority in 1945, in its report ‘Towards the Conversion of England’. The reasoning is still sound; that should still be our first priority. This leads well into the first research article, a study of Anglican anthropology from Maurice Elliot, in ‘Cranmerian Theological Anthropology: An Exploration of the Collects’.
William Press takes us to Ireland, looking at how Romans chapter 8 motivated Patrick in his evangelistic mission there; and continuing the theme of mission, John Armstrong explains how Lesslie Newbigin’s framework can help the contemporary church, in ‘The Significance of Lesslie Newbigin’s Missionary Encounter with Western Culture for the Church’s Encounter with the LGBTQ+/Pride Movement’.
Finally Ed Veale explains how Paul’s pastoral concerns in the letter of Philemon informs our own approach to church ministry in ‘Paul, Philemon and the Pursuit of Koinonia’. We also have a feast of books in our reviews section.
