Marriage and Same Sex Relationships after the Shared Conversations
"I welcome the paper today from the bishops on the issue of marriage and sexuality (and its helpful appendix), and thank them for their lead and hard work on this difficult issue. We are grateful for their continuing courageous clarity in affirming Jesus’s counter-cultural teaching about sex and marriage, though very conscious of the need to show appropriate pastoral care to all — welcoming, loving, and leading them in a way that is consistently faithful to the Church’s teaching. Whilst there are some points on which we will value further discussion and clarification, there is a great deal in the report that is heartening, and we are committed to praying for the bishops and to helping them in any way possible as they implement their action points over the coming months.”
