Lee on the Lectionary: Third Sunday after Trinity (Year C)
The Psalm for today (Psalm 5) declares that God will “destroy those who speak lies; the bloodthirsty and deceitful the Lord will abhor.” These people cannot stand in God’s sight, even though they often seem to prosper in this world, unless they repent. We see a perfect illustration and example of this truth in the readings for this coming Sunday (which can be found here).
As previously mentioned, this is part of our new weekly effort to expound the three main Lectionary readings for each Sunday. It is not, however, a copy of my weekly column in the Church of England Newspaper, which is currently working through the continuous series permitted by the Lectionary (currently in the midst of a 6 week series in Galatians).
