A prayer for Iraq and Syria
O God, our refuge and our strength,
you promise never to leave or forsake those who trust in you;
look with mercy upon your precious children in Iraq and Syria,
that they may know your peace amidst persecution,
your compassion at a time of suffering,
and your faithfulness in the face of death;
for we ask it in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ,
whose wounded side brings healing,
and whose love has overcome the world.
