Contending in Prayer: Crossway 166
As the Church of England moves closer to a resolution of the Living in Love and Faith process, many of us are watching on from the sidelines, wondering how anything we do can make a difference. And yet, of course, we can all do by far the most important and effective thing: we can pray.
That's why this issue of Crossway urges us all to contend in prayer. Nigel Atkinson considers what it means to wrestle in prayer, Martin Davy looks to the Lord's Prayer for help in learning to pray. There are reminders about the value of praying together and planning what you will pray for. I draw out some lessons from the wonderful pastoral prayer of Aelred of Rievaulx. Marc Lloyd looks at how our prayers can be sung and our songs can be prayed.
I hope you will all be stimulated in your own prayer lives as a result of this issue of the magazine, but more than that, I hope you will feel empowered as you pray for the church at the moment. God hears the prayers of his people, and God is powerful to act accordingly.
