Living in Mercy and Grace
2021 Junior Anglican Evangelical Conference
Bookings now open
The life to which Christ calls his followers is one of service, suffering and hardships of all kinds.
Those whom he calls into ministry can expect the struggles to be all the more intense. And yet it is through the flames that genuine faith is proved and godly character is formed. At this year’s Junior Anglican Evangelical Conference we will consider a number of the characteristics that we all need to cultivate to enable us to face difficult situations with the grace and mercy of our Lord. Chris Moore will open the conference helping us to think about ‘Patience with People’, followed by Martin Davy on ‘Humility in Difference’. Kirsten Birkett will speak about ‘Perseverance through Discouragement’ and Helen Thorne will look at ‘Gentleness to the Weak’. Lee Gatiss will give the pastoral charge from Titus 3 on ‘The Mercy and Grace of God’, and the conference sermon will be given by Bishop James Newcombe.
In the seminars, there will be chance to consider some issues for ministry and Christian life in more detail, including sessions on Ministry and Mental Health (Helen Thorne), Tenderness in Death (Tony Cannon), Care for a Hurting Church (Jason Ward), Grace in Evangelism (John McGinley) and Pastoring as an Incumbent (Martin Davy). There will also be a seminar specifically for those considering ordination or in the selection process, on Serving in the Church of England (Andy Greenhough).
The Junior Anglican Evangelical Conference aims to help us be more effective as Anglican evangelicals, making the most of every opportunity to reach the lost for Jesus, build up the church through his word, and send workers into God’s harvest field. If you are in Anglican ministry, lay or ordained, and at any stage from exploring ministry through to a first incumbency, you are warmly invited to JAEC. Spouses and families are also very welcome to attend, though we are unable to provide childcare during the sessions.
This year, the Church Society AGM will be held during JAEC, on Wednesday 1st September at 4.30pm. Church Society members will be welcome to join us for tea beforehand and for the panel discussion after the meeting, on ‘Grace and Mercy in the Church of England’. More details of the AGM will be sent to members nearer the time. It will be available to watch online for those unable to attend in person.
