Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility so that on the last day, when he will come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal, through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Andrew (30 November)

Almighty God, who gave such grace to your holy apostle Andrew that he readily obeyed the call of your Son Jesus Christ and followed him without delay, grant that we who are called by your holy Word may give ourselves at once to obey all your commands, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thomas the apostle (21 December)
Ephesians 2: 19-22 John 20: 24-31

Almighty and eternal God, who permitted your holy apostle Thomas to doubt your Son's resurrection to the intent that the certainty of that event would be all the more confirmed, grant that we may perfectly and without any doubt believe in your Son Jesus Christ so that our faith may never be found wanting in your sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be all glory, now and for ever. Amen.

Stephen (26 December)
Acts 7: 55-60 Matthew 23: 34-39

Grant, O Lord, that in all our sufferings for the testimony of your truth we may look up steadfastly to heaven and see by faith the glory that is to be revealed and, filled with the Holy Spirit, may learn to love and pray for our persecutors as Stephen your first martyr prayed for his murderers to you, blessed Jesus, where you stand at the right hand of God to help all who suffer for you, our only mediator and advocate. Amen.

John the evangelist (27 December)

Merciful Lord, let the bright beams of your light shine upon your church so that, enlightened by the teaching of your blessed apostle and evangelist John, we may walk in the light of your truth and come at the last to the light of eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Innocents (28 December)
Revelation 14: 1-5 Matthew 2: 13-18

Almighty God, whose purpose it is that the lips of children and infants praise you and who were glorified in their deaths, put to death all evil within us and so strengthen us by your grace that by the innocency of our lives and constancy of our faith we may glorify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. The Conversion of Paul (25 January)

O God, who through the preaching of the apostle Paul caused the light of the gospel to shine throughout the world, grant that as we remember his wonderful conversion we may show our thankfulness by following the holy doctrine which he taught, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Presentation of Christ (Purification of Mary) (2 February)

Almighty and everliving God, we humbly pray that as your only Son was presented in the temple in our human flesh, may we be presented to you with pure and clean hearts by the same, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Matthias (24 February)

Almighty God, who chose your faithful servant Matthias to be numbered among the twelve apostles in the place of Judas, grant that your church may always be preserved from false apostles and guided by faithful and true pastors, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Annunciation of Mary the virgin (25 March)
Isaiah 7: 10-15 Luke 1: 26-38

Pour your grace into our hearts O Lord we pray, so that, as we have known the incarnation of your Son Jesus Christ by the message of an angel, we may be brought by his cross and suffering to the glory of his resurrection, through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mark (25 April)
Ephesians 4: 7-16 John 15: 1-11

Almighty God, who through the heavenly teaching of Mark the evangelist instructed your church, give us grace so that we may not be carried away with every wind of false teaching but may be established in the truth of your holy gospel, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Philip and James (1 May)
James 1: 1-12 John 14: 1-14

Almighty God, whom truly to know is eternal life, grant us perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth and the life, so that, following in the steps of your holy apostles Philip and James, we may steadfastly walk in the way that leads to eternal life, through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.

Barnabas the apostle (11 June)

Lord God Almighty, who endowed your holy apostle Barnabas with special gifts of the Holy Spirit, do not leave us destitute of your many gifts, nor of grace always to use them to your honour and glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

John the Baptist (24 June)
Isaiah 40: 1-11 Luke 1: 57-80

Almighty God, by whose providence your servant John the Baptist was wonderfully born and sent to prepare the way for your Son our Saviour by preaching repentance, make us so to follow his teaching and the example of his holy life that we may truly repent, constantly speak the truth, boldly rebuke vice, and patiently suffer for the truth's sake, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Peter (29 June)
Acts 12: 1-11 Matthew 16: 13-19

Almighty God, who by your Son Jesus Christ gave to your apostle Peter many excellent gifts and commanded him earnestly to feed your flock, make all bishops and pastors diligently to preach your word and all people obediently to follow it that they may receive the crown of eternal glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. James the apostle (25 July)

Grant, O merciful God, that as your holy apostle James left his father and all that he had and without delay obeyed the call of your Son Jesus Christ and followed him, so may we always be ready to forsake all worldly affections and follow your holy commands, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Bartholomew the apostle (24 August)
Acts 5: 12-16 Luke 22: 24-30

Almighty and eternal God, who gave your apostle Bartholomew grace truly to believe and to preach your word, grant that your church may not only receive that word but also love and preach it, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Matthew the apostle (21 September)
2 Corinthians 4: 1-6 Matthew 9: 9-13

Almighty God, who by your beloved Son did call Matthew from his place of business to be an apostle and evangelist, grant us grace to forsake all covetous desires and the selfish love of riches and to follow your Son Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Michael and all angels (29 September)
Revelation 12: 7-12 Matthew 18: 1-11

Eternal God, by whom the ministries of angels and men have been ordained and constituted in a wonderful order, grant that as your holy angels always serve you in heaven so by your appointment they may help and defend us here on earth, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Luke the evangelist (18 October)
2 Timothy 4: 5-15 Luke 10: 1-7

Almighty God, who called Luke the physician to be an evangelist and physician of the soul, praised by all the churches for his service to the gospel, grant that through the wholesome medicine of your word written by him all the diseases of our souls may be healed, through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. The apostles Simon and Jude (28 October)

Almighty God, who built your church on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone, grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God, who joined together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord, grant us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living that we may come to those inexpressible joys that you have prepared for those who sincerely love you, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
