Holy Communion and closing ceremonies
Dissolution
This will be the last Group of Sessions
of this Quinquennium.
The Synod will be re-elected in September
and with roughly 100 fewer members.
At the start of the final day the
Synod turned, for the fourth time to Standing Order with some minor tinkering.
The final business of the Synod was consideration of a report on the Anglican-Methodist
Covenant. The report covers only two areas who should preside at the Lord’s
Supper and issues to do with the bread and wine.
Undertakings given at an earlier stage to consider doctrinal matters such as
predestination and holiness teaching were not honoured.
The report is part of the process of moving together in unity but the basis
of unity seems to be a growing liberal catholic nonsense rather than the doctrinal
basis of either Church.
