The Bible is the collection of Christian Scriptures.
The Bible can be viewed from an historical or sociological perspective because of the place it has played in the formation of Christianity and Chrisitan history. However, this does not explain the significance of the Bible.
The significance of the Bible for Christians is fundamentally a theological assertion, that the Bible is the Word of God written - 'All Scripture is God-breathed' - 2 Timothy 3.16)
This also has a significance for the spirituality of Christians- 'Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path' (Psalm 119 verse 105).
